Pigeon removal

Pigeon removal is something that people need to get done just because sometimes pigeon colonies in urban areas can and do grow out of hand. Pigeons can be pests in urban settings, disrupting our daily activities. The birds are carriers of various potentially deadly to humans diseases and it is advised that removal should be something you should consider if you have many pigeons near your house or apartment.  Pigeons which are also known as doves are a breed of domesticated bird and is found almost anywhere in the world. Very comfortably living with many urban communities can be spotted on many roof tops electricity lines, parks and other open areas. They mostly eat seeds, nuts, fruits and small insects. When a couple of doves may seem like a nice sight, in large numbers they can become a nuisance, that’s why they are included in the pest control list. Also, pigeons carry many dangerous to people diseases like salmonella and psittacosis. They can build their nests pretty much anywhere from roof gutters to one’s attic. Their droppings are corrosive and can significantly destruct one’s property.

Pigeons easily adapt to the environment and a good number of these birds living in cities and other urban areas have become a common sight. Their resourcefulness in making nests made of varying objects makes them more irritating and harder to get rid of. When pigeons are no longer entertaining and become bothersome, there are several ways pigeon pest control can be done in order for them to be gone from the area concerned—one’s home or property. Pigeons are highly dependent on humans to provide them with food and sites for roosting, loafing, and nesting. Pigeons are primarily grain and seed eaters and will subsist on spilled or improperly stored grain. Pigeons are filthy birds, causing disease and damage. Their droppings are known for triggering human slips and falls, as well as accelerating the aging of structures and statues. Pigeons are larger than doves and tend to have square or rounded tails. Pigeons range from 6 to 15 1/2 inches long.

Trapping Pigeons

Controling A Pigeon Population

To start, remove any or all reasons that make pigeons’ stay viable such as food and water sources and nesting places. Throw out stagnant water that may be a water source for these birds. Cover trash bins where scrap food is placed and do regular cleaning in lawns with fruit trees where fruits tend to fall off the ground and can be easily obtained by doves. Check if there are pigeons nesting near or at your home. Gutters and attics are the usual areas where doves seek and build a nest. Secure these places so that doves will not have reasons to nest and stay at your home. Another way to extricate doves from the vicinity is to purchase a pigeon repellent at a nearby pest control shop. Observe the necessary precautions in using these chemicals, though, as these can also be harmful to the health of human beings. Read the instructions and warnings carefully before anything else. You can always get in touch with a pest control professional or company to effectively get rid of pigeons from your home if everything else fails. Asses their price tags by making a list of the agents and companies that get rid of pigeons. Always pick the professional with the most experience and the most reasonable price. Pigeon removal is something you should definitely consider if you notice a pigeon population growing out of control near your home.
